Eric Livny

  • Head of Turkmenistan with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development

  • Eric Livny is currently Head of Turkmenistan with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He joined the Bank in September 2019 as Lead Economist for Central Asia and Mongolia and worked in this capacity from EBRD’s offices in Astana and Tashkent until June 2024. Having graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Eric has been involved in the founding and management of three world-class education start-ups in the former USSR: the New Economic School (NES) in Moscow, the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), and the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET). Throughout his career, Eric conducted economic policy research and consulted governments, international organizations and businesses on issues ranging from national competitiveness strategies to agricultural development to FDI attraction to labour market and education reforms. Eric’s views on policy have been published in regular columns with printed and online media, as well as his own blog www.tbilinomics.com
